Website Migration
-
Q: What exactly does website migration mean and what does it entail?
A: If your present hosting provider can no longer meet the necessities of your website, or if you face constant network downtime, or if you have to wait for hours for the client service staff to respond back to you, it may be a good idea to change your web hosting provider, i.e. to migrate all the files for your sites along with your databases from your current provider to your future provider. At Top Hat Hosting, we are aware that this can be hard & time–consuming. This is the reason why we’ll accomplish all that for you for free! Our highly knowledgeable technical team representatives will transfer your site content from your current hosting provider to us. Our technicians have broad experience migrating web sites and are able to handle everything – from a normal WordPress–driven weblog or Joomla™–based site, to a highly elaborate, custom–built app.
-
Q: Web site migration seems like a lot of work. Just how long does it take?
A: There are plenty of aspects to take into consideration – the total number of files, the physical size of the database, the complexity of the site itself and the present workload of our website migration professionals, etc. Still, we do our best to perform all website migrations within a 48–hour time window. Smaller web sites are migrated much faster – usually in less than 24 hours.
-
Q: Do you need anything from me before you begin transferring my website?
A: We’ll require the login information for your current hosting provider’s Control Panel as well as the website’s name (domain name).
-
Q: The login details for my hosting account are delicate. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the agreement that we’ll have with you as a client. We’re devoted to safeguarding the safety of the personal information collected from the customers. For this purpose, we use technical security measures to prevent the loss, the misappropriation, the alteration or the illegal leak of the private info under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the data that we obtain online. When we ask customers to provide financial information (such as a debit card number), this info is encrypted using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technique.
-
Q: What about downtime? Will my site be offline?
A: While we transfer your web site, it will be available both in your hosting account with us and in your account with your old web hosting provider. Once the transfer is finished, we will make certain that everything is functioning properly and that the integrity of your data is not compromised before informing you that the transfer is over. Then we will instruct you how to transfer the domain to your web hosting account with us and how to edit the DNS resource records.
-
Q: Will my present web hosting provider need to do anything?
A: Nah. Aside from your login info for the Control Panel, we don’t require anything. We’ll never get in touch with your web hosting provider. They won’t know anything about the transfer either.
-
Q: Which hosting providers can you transfer data from?
A: Yeah. We support all standard Linux–based web hosting platforms. We don’t support Windows–based hosting platforms, because we don’t provide Windows hosting solutions ourselves. We also do not support proprietary site building and administration user interfaces such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
